First I heard the music then it led me to these spacious places...

My art is about aloneness and being in a place of mystery and awe and wonder, beyond the ordinary world. In these timeless places, stones and planets inscribed with ancient symbols arrive like ancestral messengers from across the ages. Feelings of return and recognition, reawakening and remembrance are revealed. These are healing places for me and, hopefully, also for the viewer.
As subjects I use Mayan places and symbols which have inherently expansive and peaceful qualities. In this framework the Earth is alive, the Sun has a mind and the Galaxy has desires. My present works are acrylic on canvas, paper, and wood. I have exhibited in Washington State galleries including Kirsten Gallery, Second Story Galleries and Gotrocks Ultrafine Gallery in Seattle, Childers/Proctor Gallery in Langley, and Parallax Gallery in Startup.
I learned painting from the Dharmic Engineers and made collaborative art with them for 12 years. Our group work included environmental art installations and The Door Project. My music is the sound of the places I paint. Haunting melodies of synthesizer, flute and voice led me to remember these spacious plazas. Questing for harmony the songs travel to meet my vision of vastness, simplicity and grace.
And - I'll paint almost anything to look like rock... My commissions have included furniture, storefront signs, clothing and even a refrigerator painted to look like a huge chunk of granite!
